Exercise Tip of the Day:
Challenge Your Body
As you workout, your level of fitness will grow, and this means that the workouts you are performing will become too easy. At this point, you are ready to push yourself a little harder. in order for your workouts to be successful and keep you pushing forward you must challenge your body!
This doesn’t have to mean increasing workout time, but does include increasing your load. For example, doing fewer reps with more weight and lifting to failure. In cardio, this means making that activity harder to complete, for example, raising the incline on your treadmill.
A great tip is to try something you’ve never tried before. Going out of your comfort zone is when the magic really happens. You never know; maybe you’ll find something you enjoy more, or do better. Life can be full of surprises.
The body will always strive to adapt, and once it does, it no longer feels any demand to grow. Therefore, you must create those demands so it can make the changes needed to adapt to a new level. This is something to incorporate on a regular basis 🙂

Guided Imagery For Wellness
What is guided imagery and what is its purpose in health and well-being?
Guided imagery is any type of focused relaxation, which is designed to harmonize your mind and body. It offers a way to focus your imagination – you create peaceful images in your mind to provide a mental escape, akin to creating a “happy place.”
It’s a powerful psychological approach that can improve coping skills. Consider the fact that it is not just one sense that is involved in the process, but all of them, as well as the body and emotions. By putting yourself in those images and focusing on the details around you like smells, tastes and sounds it offers a fresh perspective and calms the mind.
When we encounter change in our lives, it is easy to feel like we are losing control. It could be a situation that involves moving or job changes, or it could be something major like surgery. The Journal of Neuroscience completed a study showing that anxiety can exacerbate pain; guided imagery can bring calm to to those experiencing stress and anxiety. It’s also conducive to faster and better healing from injuries or surgeries.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are a number of issues that Guided Imagery can help with:
• Stress and anxiety
• Respiratory issues
• Improved sleep
• Improved self-confidence
• Boost immune system
• Improved quality of life
• Decreased hospital stays
• Decreased nausea
• Decreased blood pressure
• Increased sense of control
